Hello Friends!
The sweet sound of (temporary) construction is ringing across the city as final preparations are made for one of the biggest weekends of the year. Welcome back SpiegelGardens, Caravanserai, NoFit State, the best and the rest. From now until September, our little corner of the world will be buzzing with people enjoying the summer season. Leave doubts at the door and dive in. |
It’s the launch of the 60th Brighton Festival, led by festival director Lucy Davies, with the theme New Dawn. The programme is a total cultural feast, including an ‘in-house first’ and the 40th annual Children’s Parade, inspired by the National Year of Reading 2026. |

And, of course, the fabulous Brighton Fringe is back from tomorrow, bringing its ‘vast celebration of the weird, wild and wonderful’ throughout May. Curious about becoming a Friend of Fringe? Do it – and enjoy brilliant perks, including 2-for-1 on many shows. |
Foodies Festival is in Preston Park this weekend, while it’s also the start of Artists Open Houses and Brighton Italian Festival.
Let’s lean into the pizza mania sweeping the city. This bank holiday weekend only: Brighton Bars & Bites collabs with foodie favourite Pommy’s to create Amit’s perfect pizza – Inferno Di Satana. Think a devilishly hot arrabbiata base topped with basil, mozzarella, jalapeños, parmesan flakes and crust.
Take a stroll over to Ovingdean in search of legendary Wild Flour Pizza – authentic, artisan, wood-fired pizza in a stunning Sussex garden. Been on your list but not made the trip? What on earth are you waiting for?! |
More pizza news: there’s a new seasonal menu at vegan Purezza, including Norcina and Miso Pesto pizzas; Detroit deep pan is coming soon to Hurstpierpoint’s Village Pizza Kitchen; Tony’s has landed at Brighton Open Market; and welcome Jack’s Pizza too.
Anyone feel a pizza challenge coming on? Just me? Didn’t think so. |

The Restaurants Brighton crew has been out on the town as usual. Jude and her lovely man joined the team at Sea Lanes for a beach clean-up and brunch at Wood X Coal, while Brittany brunched at Baked in Hove.
I had the best ever oat flat white at YouJuice, then met Sophie Taverner at her brilliant At The Table to discuss plans for our next Women in Hospitality event.
Gemma has been checking out the new lunch platter at BRAVO award-winning Kindling.
Heads up! One of us may be heading to BRAVOS Best Restaurant, terre à terre, this weekend to check out their brand new Sunday Set. More to follow. We’re dreaming of escaping to the sunny weekender in the glorious garden at The Jolly Sportsman too.
Yours, with good plans in hand,
Hannah & Team RB
