Daniel Craig spotted, MASA reviewed and Brighton’s latest food finds.
Hello Friends!
I’m not one to gossip, but…
Poco in beautiful Alfriston appears to be a hit with the ‘it’ crowd. Recent sightings include Mr Daniel Craig himself (gasp), actor Simon Farnaby and the judges from Bake Off: The Professionals. Well I never! They were there for the hyper-local ingredients, handmade pasta and rare wines – so if you ask me, the restaurant’s the real star. |
When it comes to Central or South American cuisine, we’re sending in our sunny Californian Brittany for the ‘authenticity’ test. She got the call to try MASA – the new Argentinian kitchen at Tapestry – and she’s raving about the flaky empanadas and fire board piled high with grilled meat, elote corn, fresh salsas and tortillas her abuelita would approve of. Oh, and the margs of course. |
Brittany wasn’t the only one out feasting. Steffan spent a drizzly afternoon wrapped in steaming bowls of Chinese chicken congee and madras curry with coconut rice at Nanima Asian Kitchen. He found chef Nicky’s flavour-packed, pan-Asian cooking well worth a trip. |
Meanwhile, Noor escaped to The Coconut Island for a true taste of Sri Lankan food and hospitality. Think crispy egg hoppers, signature pineapple curry and traditional kothu, all to the sounds of Nav’s funk and reggae playlist. Piña colada in a pineapple with two straws, please. |
If you’ve got kids, they’re either already on holiday or about to be. Easter is a favourite for some pretty sweet reasons – but we know it can be tricky to keep little ones entertained. Here are a few ideas to get you started: |

Congratulations and happy 5th anniversary to Terra Restaurant at Tottington Manor, who celebrated in style this week; Bonsai Plant Kitchen turned 4 (this 50% offer is available today only), and Lindfield’s Le Flamant now 1. How time flies!
Team RB is busy getting ready for the BRAVOS announcement on 31 March (eek!). I snuck away to join Fourth and Church for their Spring Beaujolais supper – and oh my. Chef Sam’s roast chicken with black garlic butter and wild mushrooms, paired with Anna Reilly’s spot-on Beaujolais, was something else. So clever!
We also discovered a new favourite cheese – Petit Soumaintrain – and finished with the most exquisite rhubarb tartlets with crème diplomate.
Yours, definitely (probably) eating salad for lunch today,
Hannah & Team RB
