This month, we’re celebrating the people who make Brighton’s food scene thrive – from chefs and bakers to brilliant local guests like you. Discover our tribute to local chefs, family-friendly half-term offers, Halloween highlights, Sussex bonfire nights, and a peek inside what Team RB’s been up to lately.
Hello Friends!
One of the loveliest things about being part of the team at Restaurants Brighton is getting to meet the people who make our local food scene tick. And let me tell you – there are plenty of them! From KPs to Head Chefs, cleaners to designers, restaurateurs to influencers, and you – the guests – we’re all part of one big community that helps each other thrive.
This Monday, 20 October, was International Chefs Day – the perfect excuse to celebrate this deliciously important cog in the wheel.

I’ve recently had several amazing opportunities to share stories and make connections over great food and drinks – at the brilliant Best Before event, at Curio, and at Table Talk Business Club, to name a few. A few weeks ago, at Open Bakery’s Artisan Bread Making Course, my husband and I enjoyed a blissful afternoon, baking and sharing lunch with new copains. |
Half Term, Halloween and Beyond |
For most local families, the half-term break starts tomorrow afternoon, with a fistful of sticky coins at the front of the bake-sale queue. There are tonnes of fabulous events and offers to keep you and yours busy – try the £10 menu (pizza or pasta and pudding) at Village Pizza Kitchen in Hurstpierpoint for starters. |
Brighton and Hove’s bat**** crazy for it! Just ask Brittany – our very own Halloween Queen! Take a tour of the city to find the best-decorated house. Then plan your trick-or-treating route and take your sweet time about it. |

A few things we’re excited about this week:
- 50p Pastel de Nata with takeaway coffee at Starfish & Coffee
- The launch of bottomless brunch at Carne on 25 October
- World Sustainability Day on 29 October
- The return of Polar Expresso to Trading Post Coffee – choo choo!
- It Ain’t Over ’Til the Fatboy Sings – exhibition opening at Helm Gallery
Ivanka and Nick have been hard at work harvesting small but perfectly formed olives. Jude had a wonderful time at Brighton Cookery School making tapas with Jenny. Emma visited Lavash (one of Team RB’s favourite lunch spots), and I thoroughly enjoyed the deliciously boozy friends-and-family feast at Curio.
Don’t forget to enter our monthly prize draw for a £50 Restaurants Brighton voucher. Simply reply to this email with the word ‘Gift’ in the subject line. A winner will be randomly selected on Monday 3 November.
Yours, fingers crossed,
Hannah & Team RB
