Hello Brighton, Hove and Sussex!

The sun’s been shining and seems keen to keep up the good work, which is simply marvellous. With Hannah and Jude away, the rest of us have been nibbling frozen fruit (healthy, delicious and cooling) or out and about sipping iced coffees and cold beer (not at the same time, you understand).

This week we’re here to help you plan ahead for some Bank Holiday fun, indulge in a little Afternoon Tea Week deliciousness, and discover some new places to try. Let’s get on with it.

According to my sister-in-law, it’s Afternoon Tea Week every week – and I struggle to argue with her. From classic hotels with delicate china to quirky seaside twists, our Afternoon Tea guide will help you celebrate in style. Personally, I have a fondness for miniature savouries and multi-course sweet things, so I can be all too easily persuaded to indulge.

Book your Afternoon Tea

Brighton’s pulling out all the stops for the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend. Our Bank Holiday guide has the full list, but here are a few standouts:

Bohemia – The White Party, for those who like to dress to impress.
The Dorset – MOD Weekender, a soundtrack of ska, soul and sixties style.
Shelter Hall – DJs both days (Sat 1–10pm, Sun 1–8pm) with that unbeatable seafront view.

Make your Bank Holiday plans

As always, we’ve been busy eating, drinking and meeting people — and there’s plenty to tell you about.

This week’s special guest on The Dish is the wonderful Lyndsey Clay, founder of the Connected Brighton concierge service. Lyndsey’s highlights include Pearly Cow, Bar Valentino, Elite Kitchen, Tottington Manor, … and I’ll leave it to her to tell you more.

On the blog, Jude shares the wonderful time she had at Woodfire Camping, who kicked off their FEAST season in style, collaborating with ROVI from the Ottolenghi Restaurant family. It looks and sounds amazing. Congratulations again to Stella and Griff for being brilliant hosts and creating another standout collaboration.

New venues – Brighton’s food scene is buzzing; we might have missed one (or three).
The Mesmerist – still has the atmosphere that makes it a Brighton classic.
