Your Brighton food update: what’s reopened, what’s just launched, and what to book next, plus your BRAVO nominations.
Hello Friends!
Last night we launched the BRAVOS 2026 at Ironworks Studios.
Celebrating our 10th anniversary, the party was attended by the great and the good of local hospitality from across Brighton, Hove and Sussex. (Those who couldn’t make it – we missed you!)
Nominations are now open until voting goes live on 10 Feb, so take a minute to check that your favourite spot is in the running. Hit reply to flag anywhere missing from the list. |
Fresh Starts And First Nights |
- Shelter Hall is reopening after a spruce-up, with Churrasco – an exciting new kitchen from the team behind Salt Shed. Portuguese barbecue by the sea.
- Poco (Alfriston) is back after a winter break with a new takeaway service coming soon – perfect for deliciously cosy nights in.
- The latest reincarnation of a legendary Brighton boozer – Hector’s is open for business.
- The Set has announced a permanent home on Preston Road with just 12 coveted covers. Much to the delight of Brighton’s foodies, it’s expected to launch this May.
- Book Crossbar’s opening night event: Après-ski Bubbles & Boards (6 Feb) – the new place to ‘watch women’s sport, and for women to watch sport’.

 | Brighton’s own Fatto a Mano recently opened their eighth venue on Soho’s Dean Street. Just round the corner, KhaoBird (from the team behind Redroaster and Lucky Khao) launched on Brewer Street in Nov 2025. The Coal Shed (Tower Bridge), Purezza (Camden) and Wolfox (Savoy, Covent Garden) have also conquered the big smoke!
Meanwhile, the flow of hungry foodies coming ‘down from London’ remains strong… |

As well as planning the (as yet unchallenged) party of the year and enjoying an absolute feast at the gorgeous The Chilli Pickle, here’s what we’ve been up to:
Torsten discovered the risky pleasure of Negroni Roulette at Bar 50ml – read all about it! Jude and I nipped into The Crazy Goose to see what the fuss was about. Spoiler: an incredibly stocked bar, a delicious gastro-bistro-pub menu and a super team. The generous Winter Wine Dinner at Paris Wine Bar won Gemma’s heart – and packed out a Monday night in Jan. Don’t miss her write-up.
REMINDER: Haven’t booked your table for two? Valentine’s Day is almost here. We’ve pulled together this guide to help you decide… and if you can’t, buy a voucher and let them choose!
Yours, slightly worse for wear,
Hannah & Team RB
