Soft launches, hidden gems and new reasons to brave a border crossing.
Hello Friends!
Some good people (you know who you are) never cross the border between Brighton and Hove. As a DFL* – no need for cursing, pls – I find this pretty hilarious. You can drive from one end of the city to the other in actual minutes and still never hope to discover every great restaurant, magical corner, charming café or sunny terrace. That’s what makes it all so fun. |
Which is exactly why Kemptowners are whooping this week with the news that the people behind Hovarian Wild Flor are opening a brand new restaurant in their neck of the woods. Gorgeous seasonal menus, great wine: same same but different. A big welcome to The Vine House! |
For those of you of a more adventurous nature, lace up ya boots and tramp over the Downs to the GLORIOUS garden at Wild Flour Pizza. Yes, you could drive, but if you walk you’ll have earned the pie and pudding too. Slightly further afield, the new menu at Wingrove House in Alfriston looks divine. |
For a foodie, there are few sweeter words than “soft launch”.
The Salt Room’s ‘Local Legends First Look’ is taking bookings for 20 and 21 May with 50% off food, while Howie’s at The Greenhouse has 50% off food vouchers available for this weekend and next. Don’t miss out! |
 | Bank Holiday & Half Term: It’s time to get organised. Here are a few highlights:
Plateau x Komodo – Plateau’s inimitable style meets award-winning coffee from Komodo for a brilliant Bank Holiday brunch: whipped roe with poached eggs and pickles, bacon-stuffed brioche and braised beef hash. Yes – you should be excited. Book now.
Town & Country – Woodfire Camping is offering a 25% half-term discount at Chapel Field, Firle – all rope swings, dens, children’s library and meals. Easy, breezy fun. Staying in town? Check out their Feast and Fable kids cookalong with Brighton Fringe.
Barbino – the food lover’s pop-up from the Cin Cin team is back: Mediterranean small plates, wines and cocktails at Hove new kid on the block At The Table. £45 including a glass of fizz on arrival – spaces strictly limited – 29 & 30 May.

We pulled off The BRAVOS Winners’ Party with aplomb and plenty of help from our friends. Here’s how it went down.
Gemma took her butcher husband for lunch at award-winning Kindling, while Noor leaned in at Boysterous Burgers. Want to know the verdict? It’s all here.
Ivanka ate brunch twice in one day, went to the opening of The Reading Room at Saltdean Lido and the relaunch of The Salt Room, hosted a massive party (see above) and so much more.
Now the baton has passed to me. I’m excited about the preview of Sora at Malmaison today with Jude, Nico and Brittany. Tonight it’s Blossoms for Fringe-tinged jazz and cocktails, then The Canopy on Saturday for Michael and Jane’s love-laden San Sebastián supper club.
Have fun Great Escaping!
Yours, with an appetite,
Hannah & Team RB
